JUVÉDERM® is the No. 1 selling collection of hyaluronic acid fillers in the United States. Each product in the JUVÉDERM® collection of fillers adds volume to a different area of the face to lift cheeks, smooth parentheses lines, or plump the lips.

The results are natural looking and long lasting.

Juvederm is a name for a wide variety of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. FDA-approved since 2006, the formulations include Juvederm Ultra Plus XC and Juvederm Voluma XC. The Juvederm dermal fillers are the No. 1 selling collection of fillers in the United States.

Hyaluronic acid (HA), also known as hyaluronan, is a natural substance that your body produces. HA helps your skin retain moisture and softens. As your skin loses hyaluronan over the years, your appearance begins to age, causing wrinkles and folds. Time in the sun only speeds up this process. But that’s where Juvederm injections come in.

The Juvederm collection can do a whole lot. Physicians use it to treat acne scars and plump eyebrows. It is mostly used to smooth face wrinkles, reducing facial lines from the forehead to around the eyebrows. Juvederm can also enhance volume in the cheeks and jawline.

All it takes is an extremely fine needle—anesthetic included. The gel will be injected under skin and the hyaluronic acid will trigger the production of collagen and elastin in the treated area, immediately rejuvenating your skin.

How Does Juvederm Ultra Plus XC Differ From Juvederm Voluma XC?

Both products are incredible, and both provide their own unique benefits.

Juvederm Ultra Plus XC is used to fill lines and smooth wrinkles on the face, instantly adding volume. The results can last up to 12 months. Juvederm Voluma XC a newer product designed to add volume to the cheeks, and the only filler with clinically proven results in the cheek area that last up to two years.

Why Is Juvederm Better Than Other Dermal Fillers?

Firstly, Juvederm lasts longer than its competitors—as mentioned above, up to 24 months. Juvederm’s manufacturer, Allergan, has also developed the optimum gel injections for the most natural and smooth results.

They use HYLACROSS, a chemical “cross-linking” process that forms the individual chains of hyaluronan into an enduring, smooth gel.

What Is the Treatment Like?

Treatments typically take half an hour. A thin needle injects the Juvederm into the selected area.

With the help of topical and local anesthetic, any discomfort you may feel will be nothing more than the kind of routine numbing shot you receive at the dental office.

When Will I See Results?

Visible results are immediate. Allergen reports that Juvederm Ultra Plus XC lasts between 9 and 12 months while Juvederm Voluma XC adds volume to cheeks for as long as two years.

And, of course, if you return for follow-up treatment, you can continue to defy aging that much longer.

Following your treatment, you will need to avoid extensive exposure to the sun and skip drinking alcohol for at least 24 hours.

Any Possible Side Effects?

Side effects for Juvederm are typical of any injectable filler. This includes swelling, redness, bruising, and itching on and around the treated area.

But very rarely will any of this persist over a week for Juvederm Ultra Plus SC. Juvederm Voluma XC has seen these moderate side effects last between two-to-four weeks.

Please call Allergan at 1-800-433-8871 to report any side effects with any Juvederm products.

Any Reason to Avoid Juvederm?

Do not use Juvederm if you are allergic to lidocaine or the Gram-positive bacterial proteins used in it.

What Do I Need to Tell My Doctor?

As always, inform your physician of any drug prescriptions or any adverse reactions to previously used filler or local anesthetic.

The safety of Juvederm on pregnancy has not been studied, either. So let them know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

What Is Juvederm Made From?

The JUVÉDERM® collection of fillers is made from hyaluronic acid (HA).

What’s interesting about HA is that it’s a natural substance in the skin that delivers nutrients, helps the skin retain moisture and softness, and adds volume.

Each product in the JUVÉDERM® collection of fillers is made from a modified form of HA.

Juvederm Fillers

Dr. Singh can administer the treatment during a brief office visit. JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC, JUVÉDERM® XC, JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC and JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC contain lidocaine to help minimize discomfort during treatment.

If you’re still concerned about treatment discomfort, your aesthetic specialist may offer additional anesthetic options for you.
