Your Trip, Step by Step
Step one
Plan your dates
Arrive at least two days before surgery and plan to stay locally for 7 to 10 days afterward.
Step two
Book your stay
Choose a hotel near the office. Every hotel we recommend is within about three miles of us.
Step three
Pre-operative visit
Your final exam, photographs, and review of your surgical plan with Dr. Singh.
Step four
Surgery day
A responsible adult collects you and stays with you for the first 48 hours.
Step five
Recover and fly home
Attend your follow-up appointments, then travel home once Dr. Singh clears you.

Planning Your Trip
Patients traveling from outside the area should plan to remain locally for approximately 7 to 10 days following surgery, depending on the procedure and Dr. Singh’s recommendations. This additional time allows you to rest, recover, and attend your scheduled post-operative appointments before traveling home. Our team will coordinate your follow-up schedule based on your procedure and individual recovery needs.
Arrive Early
We recommend that out-of-state and international patients arrive in the area at least two days before surgery. Your pre-operative appointment with Dr. Singh provides an opportunity for your final examination, photographs, review of your surgical plan and consents, and any last-minute questions or concerns.
Give Yourself Time to Heal
Traveling for surgery requires additional planning, but it can also provide an opportunity to step away from your usual routine and focus entirely on yourself and your recovery. Our team is here to help coordinate your experience from your arrival through your post-operative care, ensuring that you feel informed, supported, and comfortable every step of the way.

Preparing for Your Surgery
Thoughtful Preparation for a Smooth Recovery
Choosing to undergo plastic surgery can be an exciting and deeply personal experience. While it is natural to feel some anticipation or nervousness about the process, thoughtful preparation can help you feel confident, comfortable and fully prepared for your recovery.
Our team will provide you with detailed pre- and post-operative instructions specific to your procedure. For our patients traveling from out of state or internationally, we also recommend the following guidelines.
Three Weeks Before Surgery
Prepare Your Body
If you smoke, we strongly recommend discontinuing cigarettes and all nicotine products at least three weeks before surgery and continuing to avoid them for at least three weeks following your procedure. This is important for proper wound healing and may help reduce the risk of complications.
This is also an appropriate time to discontinue alcohol and avoid foods containing salicylates, as these may affect bleeding and recovery. Always follow the specific instructions provided by Dr. Singh and our medical team regarding medications, supplements and dietary restrictions.
Plan Your Recovery Time
Begin planning your time away from work and your normal activities. The amount of time you will need to rest and recover varies depending on your procedure, overall health and individual recovery.
Giving yourself adequate time to heal without rushing back to your usual routine is an important part of your surgical journey.
One Week Before Surgery
Arrange for Support
Plan to have a responsible adult available to pick you up following your procedure and stay with you for at least 48 hours after surgery. If you have children, we also recommend arranging childcare and additional household support for approximately 7 to 10 days, depending on your procedure and recovery.
Having dependable support in place allows you to dedicate your attention to rest and healing.
Prepare Your Prescriptions
Have all prescribed medications, including antibiotics and pain medication when applicable, filled before your surgery whenever possible. This ensures that everything is ready for you when you return from your procedure. For patients traveling from out of town, please bring your medications with you.

Recovering Away From Home
A comfortable recovery space makes the first days after surgery considerably easier, even in a hotel. Keep these within easy reach of the bed or a recliner:
- Extra pillows for propping and support
- Water and other beverages
- Your phone, tablet or laptop, and all your chargers
- Books or magazines
- Loose clothing that does not need to go over your head
- Any personal comfort items you enjoy
A few things worth arranging that patients recovering at home do not have to think about:
- Request a lower floor or a room near the elevator so you are not walking far.
- Ask about late checkout and extended-stay rates when you book.
- Consider a suite with a kitchen if you are staying a week or more.
- Have groceries or meals delivered rather than planning to go out.
- Keep medications, garments and instructions together in one bag.
