Erbium-Yag Laser Resurfacing

Erbium-Yag Laser Resurfacing

The Erbium Yag of The Spectrum Laser is a solid-state laser that are known to be effective in removing benign, premalignant, and malignant skin lesions such as acne scars, deep rhytides, melasma, and others whether its located on the face, hands, neck or chest. The Erbium-Yag Laser can treat:

  • Sun-damaged skin
  • Atrophic acne scars
  • Uneven pigment (freckles, brown age spots)
  • Seborrheic keratosis
  • Moderate facial wrinkles
  • Superficial non-melanoma skin cancers

How does the treatment work?

The light emitted from the laser is absorbed by the water in the skin cells which causes immediate vaporization of the cell. As the laser moves over the skin, 30 millionths of an inch of tissues is treated at a time. This amount of precision allows for the treatment only to go as deep as necessary, removing sun damage and wrinkles.

How many treatments are required?

Depending on your skin evaluation and desired results, you can opt for a single treatment or a series of three monthly treatments.

What can be expected post-treatment?

Skin recovery will take between seven and ten days after treatment. Recovery must be taken seriously. Even for a few short minutes, sunscreen and hat will be critical as sun exposure needs to be avoided. Recovery is also dependent on the level of depth for the treatment.

How soon will results appear?

Improvement in the appearance of superficial scars and wrinkles can be seen as soon as 1-2 weeks after healing. New collagen growth will start after a few weeks. New collagen will grow for several months to reveal fuller, more elastic skin.
